No, not to be expected. Sometimes seals just go, sometimes they go under
heavy loads all the time. I had it happen on my 93 Caravan. Dealer didn't
want to fix it but I had extended warranty and I kept bugging them. I think
they did it because they got tired of listening to me. Problem wasn't the
leak itself cause it was just a drip here and a drip there, not even enough
to make an oil level difference between changes, but what's really
irritating was my driveway...oil spot here...oil spot there, pain in the
butt to clean up.

Are you by Glendora Dodge? I hear they're pretty good. The good one in
Orange County is Fullerton Dodge.

Ron,
my further question now is , is a weeping rear main sort of to be
expected at 40k - is that just kind of a "regular thing" with the H2O
cooled engines. I hope ---so, ok if it's not I do have the 7/75k extended
warranty. With all the great dealers around, I'd almost prefer to lick
the oil off as it leaks : \…
