My '69 Javelin (before rebuild at 185K miles) never used that much oil, my
parents '90 Caravan (200K+ miles) doesn't use any noticeable oil, my wifes '94
Jeep (89K miles) doesn't use any oil, my neighbors '94 Chevy 1500 work truck
(190K miles) doesn't use any extra oil. All of these vehicles have had regular
oil changes at 3500 miles since day-one.
1qt of oil every 3000 miles is excessive. Does it constitute a rebuild?
No...but a plug reading, compression check, and a peek at the belly-pan is in
order though.
