<<<Under moderate to less-than-heavy acceleration, my '99 5.2l *seems* to
"slip"
from 1st gear into second. It's barely noticeable right now at 31,000 miles,
but
if it really is slipping, I suspect it won't get better on it's own. During
this
"slip" the RPMs only go up slightly, maybe 100-300, it's so small that it's
hard
to see on the tach, but it can be heard.>>>
Could be that you need teh bands adjusted on it. The bands provide a certian
amount of pressure to the drums that hold your clutch packs. There are two
bands, the front one controls the clutches for 3 and 4. The back one
controls the clutches for 1, 2 and reverse. And of course the one you need
to adjust would be the pain in the butt. The pan has to be dropped to get
access to it. Also, if it is only slipping while shifting, it could be your
valve is sticking in the trans. Or it could also be a bad servo. There are
quite a few things on these electrically controled trans that could go bad.
With 31K on it, I would take it to the dealership and have them readjust the
bands first and see if that made any difference. If not, have them do a full
diagnostic on the thing, test all the servos, pressure check from the
pressure ports, etc... Should be covered under warranty. Hope this helps
