I'm sure your Dak could get low 14s (if not high 13s) in proper tune (NA) as my
5000+ lb full size Ram is in the 15s now (NA of course!) and thats with 2 extra
rims/tires, toolbox w/tools, trailer hitch, fiberglass tonneau, etc. in the back
and still blowing away the tires at launch (2.x short times). Yes I need some
slicks.
Over 400hp NA can easily be obtained from the older LA 360s. In fact - its
kinda hard to build one that isn't close to 400 if you know what you are doing.
Mopar Muscle has an 18yr old intern that reached 400 dyno-proven hp from an old
junkyard LA-360 during her first ever engine buildup using her own recommended
parts - NA all the way baby! I'll scan in the article if anyone is interested
(right after all those scans I promised Bernd days/weeks ago)...
Anyway - 400+ flywheel hp should be easily obtainable from the "newer" design
Magnum V8s. Speaking of potential - just look what ABeerCan has done w/his. I
know - he's all juiced up but remove the blower and giggle gas and he's still
pushing low 12s NA. Methinks I'll go for it and see for meself. Oh wait - I
don't have to do that because the NHRA stock Dakota -OR- Ram class are running
high 11s / low 12s NA and they are even limited to around the stock figure of
185 horsies.
