Okay folks, with all the talk about rattling cats lately I figured
I'd get my question in too.
My cat started rattling really bad about two weeks ago [you folks
cursed me!] I'm not too worried about it, as I don't have the money
for a replacement right now, but I'd like to get rid of the rattle,
anyhoo.
So my question is, could I cut the cat out and clamp in a straight
pipe? I figure it would help top end, hurt low end, but I'm not
very knowledgeable about exhaust systems. Would this even be worth
the time or should I just wait and replace it with another cat?
Also, what's a good brand cat? The rattley one on my truck is a
Catco, and so is the one on my dead RX-7, and I'm very unimpressed
with their products. Is there an alternative, or am I pretty much
stuck with Catco?
Related question: I'll probably replace the muffler on my truck
[when I have the money] with one that flows more, any suggestions?
My truck has the 2.5L I4, and I assume the stock muffler.
Thanks folks.
