Voltage output is also controlled (on the newer Dak's) by the battery sensor
(silver, flat coil under the battery). Check that as well....when it's
cold, it won't charge as fast as when it's warm.

The alternator's field is controlled by the ECM so changing the alternator
isn't going to solve the problem. Have the truck scanned for codes to see
if anything shows up.
