Chad,
While at idle do you also notice that the AC compressor is switching on and
off? If so this will cause the idle to spike up and down. This is because
you have the AC set to be ON. Saw this on my 98 V6 last week.

Subject: DML: v6 up and down idle
question fro the v6 owners out there. My uncle has a 98 v6 and just noticed
the other day that the engine rpms is going up and down at idle.
there is a noticable sound when it does it. What could be causing this or is
it a trait of the 3.9L. TIA
