ignition and steering lock

Hi there, I drive a 1998Dak SLT 5.2l CC and the other day I noticed for the
first time that when I turn my ignition to lock the shifter will not move
out of park but the steering wheel can still be turned.. Its hard to do but,
it can still be turned and it say's in the owners manual that it should be
locked. I guess its not a major thing but has anyone had this problem and
if so, is there a quick and inexpensive fix to it.
