Suspicious Odometer

In preparation for my new OEM gauge cluster with tach... I went and
removed the gauge cluster from the 89 4x4. According to the FSM - I can
simple replace the speedo/odometer unit. Meaning I can have my current
mileage reading with the new cluster. Well - when I took the gauge
cluster apart, I noticed the bulb assembly for the low fuel warning
light, was missing. Nothing big I thought. - Whoever owned it must have
been annoyed with the dummy light and wanted it out. When I took the
panel face off and got into the gauges - I noticed something that did
alarm me. The Speedo/odom. gauge is secured with 4 screws... there
were only 3 screws actually holding the gauge in place. Leading me to
wonder about what the real mileage is. 67528 seems rather low for a 12
year old truck. Especially a truck with such obvious severe duty. Am I
being paranoid? I bought the truck as is from a dealer in
Connecticut. I'm wondering if maybe the owner didn't do something to
the odometer to try and get a higher price on the truck when he traded
it in. The dealer I bought it from did say they felt taken when they
accepted the truck. That the truck was worse off than they first
thought it was - but they thought - heck a truck with 67K miles is in
good shape. At the time I thought they might be trying to give me some
stupid story. I did run the VIN through Carfax before I bought it - and
it came back completely clean.
