Lemme guess, you've got a 98 or newer 318, maybe a V6. And it happens
once you've gotten the engine warmed up. There are 3 TSBs out for this
problem - check the belly pan gasket (between intake manifold and heads)
for leaks, reroute the spark plugs, and flash the PCM (engine
computer). After all that, the ping may still be there. Various
solutions used here on the list have included using spark plugs one heat
range colder, and swapping to a colder thermostat.
