I just got off the phone with a guy (we'll call him Ed to protect his
identity) that works in the Jeep/Truck Engine department or something
like that at DC. He was looking for some lights for a vehicle.
So after talking for a minute, I asked for the scoop on the 5.7 HEMI,
and he says it will either come out in the 2003 or 2004 model year. he
said that right now on the dyno it is putting out 340 HP, but he had no
idea if they would de-tune it for the street. He also mentioned it
having distributorless ignition with two spark-plugs per cylinder (like
a Top-Fuel car).
I have no way to verify what he told me, but I figured it was some stuff
that some of you would find interesting.
