If the 2000 books are anything like the NT books they you should be able to
do it in about that time. I already knew the majority of stuff in the books
so I just kinda skimmed them to bone up right before I took the tests. I
spent about a total of 20 hours or so studying to get my MCSE, that is with
about 5 years of experience with NT though.

As far as your A+ question if you are going to get your MCSE on your own I'd
say dont get an A+ because many people look down on it as a lower
certification. But if you are just starting out and havent worked in the
field and are looking for a tech job while you get you MCSE the A+ may be of
a benifit landing a helpdesk type job. If you've got any questions feel
free to ask.
