Yup, I spanked him :) HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
I drove from Syracuse to Oswego last night to see my sister at college. I was doing my normal 70 mph on the interstate, and what do I see ahead of me? A taller truck with neat lettering on the back. What can I say, the tailgate of the new Nissans is the only thing I particulary care for (too bad I wont see it often :) but I continue on my way until I get beside him. An older guy is driving, and he starts to speed up and keep beside me. Then he looks at me, points his finger forward and I nod.
His 2001 Nissan Frontier CC Supercharged V6 automatic 4x4 versus my 1993 Dodge Dakota V6 5-speed CC 2wd with 235/75/15 AT tires, too many dents for my taste, and an 80's style not-so-low profile aluminum cap---- Starting from about 60 mph he floored it and I dropped the Dak into 3rd and gave it WOT. That hissing noise of my modded tb is one of the coolest noises ;) With the automatic he got a slight jump on me (about 1/2 car length) but by 1/4 mile I was up to him again, until at about 80 mph I pulled ahead of him, and by the time I got to 95 (I slow things down then because of the tires) I was atleast a cars length ahead.
He caught up as I slowed down and about then is when the road changed from interstate to highway, and at the first stop light he pulls up beside me and lowers his window, "You got the V8 in that?" he askes. "V6" "You done anything to it?" "Just exhaust and a modded throttle body," I answer. "Nice" is all he said. I smiled and we exchanged "nice truck" comments, and on my way I went :)
The previous day I had been off-roading a bit to test the grip of these Firestone Wilderness AT (235/75/15) I got. The bite is much better, even when slipping in mud that normally would have been stuck, the tires were able to dig got the bottom and get the grip they needed...It's nice to see mud on my truck now and not salt ;) But needless to say, even with 197,000 miles on my truck (no rebuild-few minor repairs) I am quite proud and quite happy with it.
