Dialing 90# would only allow that caller access to your phone line if it set
up as a test line access in that particular switch. Most switches across the
US are either Lucent, Nortel, or Ericsson, & we have all 3 in our territory
(SBC) & none will allow this to happen. That scam has been going on for
quite awhile now, & most LECS and carriers that did allow this have blocked
it.

BUT you should NEVER dial anything for ANYONE such as a caller like this. If
he were a real telephone tech He would have free reign to do testing on your
line without you having to dial anything. In fact, any tech with access can
walk into any central office & make completely unrestricted calls from any
line originating in that CO, or open up a terminal on the side of the road,
behind your house, - wherever they may be ...... Of course there are severe
penalties for that kind of thing, but it can be done.
