It's not a cheap job. Transmission and torque converter must come out. The
rear main seals the back end of the crankshaft.

Subject: DML: Oil leak
I have a 98 DAK CC 5.2L Auto Transmission (57K Mi) and I have noticed that
after driving I park it and there is a small oil patch on the ground
underneath the oil pan, toward the rear of the vehicle. I crawled under and
checked the color and it is oil. It seems to run down from the area between
the oil pan and the transmission. I have been reading the posts on the DML
regarding oil leaks and felt that it may be the "rear Main Seal" If this
is the case what is involved in fixing it. Does the engine need to be
pulled does the tranny need to be pulled, Etc Etc. I will have it done at
the dealer but would like to know what they are talking about so I don't
look like a total idiot.
