When going from first to second, the gear ratio is steeper, cant remember
the exact numbers, but when downshifting the ratio is not as steep. I guess
its a way to save life of the drivetrain, when youre doing 60 and you
downshift to pass someone, its not as hard on the tranny. But initial
acceleration is better with the steeper ratio. Personally I cant tell much
of a difference.
