Well, my first suggestion is to check the belly pan gasket. You can do that
by looking down the throttle bores to the bottom of the manifold. Shine a
light down there and see if you can see a layer of oil down there. That's a
sure sign and that will cause the pinging. Jack's right, it will foul the
plugs. The pinging actually happens because there's a vacuum leak (gasket)
and your engine's running lean. If you don't find a problem with the belly
pan gasket, I would change your plugs to Autolite 3923's and your t-stat to
180. Gap your plugs at whatever it calls for under the hood of your Dak.
For the t-stat get a Robertshaw 755-180.

Good luck,

Hmmm, I am not even sure what it is, but I know the feeling of having to
complain numerous times to the dealer for repairs...My truck spark knocks
like crazy...I have no idea why, I run 87 gas, no weight in it at all, not
towing...Knocks like crazy, good gas, bad gas all the same....

Nah, too many miles, besides I want the truck, I just think that these
people don't know what the hell they're doing.
