Subject: DML: Out, out %^&*&( lights!

Stopped at Wally World this afternoon and picked up a pair of GE 9007HO
bulbs. Now how the %^&(*) do I get them in? My friend was able to pull

the driver's side bulb and we got that one swapped, but we cranked on
the passenger side for an hour and could not get that retaining ring to
budge.

Any advice on how to work this one loose?

At least I'll have a day or two that I can compare the HO to the
stockers :)

I recently put in some Optilux Xenon Whites, made by Hella. I was
surprised at how easy it was, after hearing some others have had
trouble. I checked my Haynes manual first and it recommend removing the
battery for easier access to the driver's bulb. I wedged my hand in
there anyway and after a little struggle the white retaining ring came
loose, a quarter turn had it off and I carefully pulled the bulb out.
Getting the retaining ring to line back up was a little harder, it had
to go back exactly how it came off, with the wings of the ring locking
to horizontal. The passenger side was a little easier, but still tough
getting the ring lock back in. But the whole thing only took about
twenty minutes. Sorry Andy, that probably doesn't help any. Solid
pressure forward and counter clock wise got them off for me, then
carefully lining the ring back up got them in again.

On the Optilux bulbs. I got a demo set for free but they go for $35 a
pair. Ehh, they're okay, a little brighter, a little whiter. Not a huge
difference, but noticeable. For $35 I wouldn't really recommend them,
I'm still looking for the GE HO, sounds like they're just as good. I
found Sylvania HO, I wonder if they're the same. APC also makes some
that look good.
