Fender Flare Crush

I was taking off the stock (dealer advertising) mud flaps the other day and
noticed the screws holding the flares on were tight - too tight to the point
that some of them were crushing through the material. Think this will lead
to cracks? Is it worth griping over to the dealer for some replacement
flares?
