The 3-cat 4.7s have 4 O2 sensors, before and after each of the precats. The
main cat goes unsniffed. I tapped the 1-1 (front-driver's side in the FSM)
sensor for my A/F meter.

I'm not for sure where the sensors are at on the 3-cat trucks. There should
just be 2 sensors. I'd guess one just upstream of the #3 cat, and one just
downstream of it.Might have to ask Bill(semihemi01) or Ed Halterman on that
one. I've got a 2000 federal truck with just the one converter, so I won't
be much help as far as hands-on with this project. I do think that it would
be a more direct approach and definitely cheaper to do it the way I had
suggested. Hollow the two y-pipe cats, then you could get a high-flow for
#3. That would keep you from buying 2 converters, would keep the y-pipe
looking stock, and you could more easily go back stock on converter #3 than
the others if you had to.HTH,
