Ed,

As stated earlier, I don't own a Dakota. But My '96 IndyRam came with the
black manual type mirrors. The problem I had was that they would fold back
at interstate speeds (60+mph). I had them replaced many times by the
dealer. I personally didn't care for the chrome electric models from that
year. So I just put up with it. The, I noticed that in 1998, Dodge came out
with the newer style that came in black. I was on a mission at that point
to replace the older ones with the new. I managed to land a both mirrors on
seperate purchases on eBay.com. I paid a total of $125 for both left and
right. So this may be an avenue you want to persue. I then purchased the
switch and knob to enable the remote function as well. I have seen a few
Dakotas with the larger mirrors. I don't know for sure if they are
interchangable with the Rams or not. But they do appear the same.
Contacting a dealer before you purchase would be a good idea.

Try these links from time to time:

Dodge Dakota Mirror

rty=MetaEndSort&pb=&ebaytag1=ebayreg&ht=1&st=2&query=dodge+dakota+mirror

The swap is very simple!
