Ed,
    Have you by any chance spilled anitfreeze on it? If you get any
antifreeze on it, it will squeal like hell. If this is the case you will have
to replace it. I think you may have a tensioner that's trying to seize up on
you. A quick way to check is to remove the belt before you crank it up while
it's still cold. Turn each pulley one by one and see if any one is hard to
turn. There shouldn't be any metal flakes on the belt.
    Question: Are the flakes on the outside or the ribbed side??
