I finally broke down and had an Optima Red Top 800U ordered. It arrived
yesterday and is pretty cool. I am hoping to finally install it along with
all new military grade battery connectors/terminals/lugs and military style
battery clamps. These misc military grade battery items will make
connections very solid and makde 'resetting' the puter extremely easy; no
more unbolting and removing the main pos/neg battery connectors. I am also
going to run dual battery grounds, both using 10gauge fine braided wire. One
to the stock ground location and other to a new spot. Just hope I can
effectively solder ring terminals onto the thick main pos/neg 6 gauge wire.
The Optima 800U battery does state it is rated 1050CA/830CCA. So I am happy,
it was $130 from a local truck accessory shop. Also picked up a new steel
tailgate cap protector, which is powdercoated black. Hopefully I will get
time to install everything this week.
