Has anyone bothered to check the heat shield under the passenger-side
firewall? I had the same problem and found that the shield was loose
(and had a few rocks stuck in it). It vibrated (sounded like pinging)
from 2000-2500rpm in any gear.

Subject: DML: ARRRGG!!!

I am so upset! I have taken my truck back to the dealer THREE times for
the
same problem, and they STILL don't know what is wrong with it! It's
still
the same problem, marble in a glass jar noise at 30-35mph. It went from
the
brake pad moving in the caliper, to the idler pulley being bad, to the
transfer case. Now it's we don't know what is making that noise. The
dealership isn't a Dodge dealership, it's a Chevrolet dealership. But
you'd
think that Mr. Goodwrench could find ANY problem, and fix it. ;-)

Are there any mechanics on this listserv who could lend a fellow Dak
owner
a hand? The noise is a metallic rattle, and occurs when the truck is at
the
speeds of 30-35mph. It changes to a growling noise at higher speeds.
Maybe
it stops at higher speeds and the growling noise is a new noise, but
know
one seems to be able to nail it down.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
