There are "Lifts Lips" that are sold to cover those openings up for those
that install a body lift. I have seen them on some four wheel drive
aftermarket parts dealer's website.

There are covers you can get to fill that area. I thought I had a URL but
unfortunately I can't find it. I live in the snow belt of NY and yes,
things do kick up in there. Not as much as you might think though.

Your dealer is right, however - that opening is important to cooling. When
I stand next to my left front wheel I get a blast of hot air coming off my
engine fan. Keep things open in the summer.

salt, snow, slop, etc getting up into the engine compartment via these two
huge holes. Amazed Dodge didn't cover them up as in previous years. Any
thoughts about closing up these two holes to better protect the engine
compartment (especially in the winter months i.e. Oct - May (up here))??
Appreciate your feedback. My dealer says they were left that way to assist
in engine cooling...but I'm not buying that.
