RE: Is it gonna be Dodge's day??

Hey troops!

I think the engines blowing was a function of the gearing those guys were
using. Running at 9,200 RPM's is not a good thing!!! What were they
thinking? It was a decent wind (up to 20 mph) moving from turn 1 to turn 4
so the teams were gambling that the wind was going to slow them down on the
front stretch more than it actually did. The Dodge boys must not have
dropped their gearing as much as the others, that's all I can figure. That
is insane to think that 9,200 will hold up for 400 miles. I know it is
running that hard for "only" a second, but anything above 8,700 while
climbing to 9,200 is some fast moving components.

Just think, the CART teams are turning 16,500 RPM's!!

Have a great week all ;^P

There was a real good chance that Craven's Yates-built engine could have
blown, too, had the race gone longer. The way I see it, Marlin's been the
strongest Dodge all season and since he finsihed third at the first
Michigan race this year, it's no fluke. It wasn't like where Martin
nearly won, because he hadn't made a pit stop yet and 16 cars in front of
him had come into the pits before the race was stopped for rain. Sterling
changed 4 tires during the last pit stop, restarted eighth and passed
everyone. He held off a pretty good 4duh to win. Had Elliot gotten 4
tires at at that last pit stop, it could have been real interesting!

I was impressed by the fact that NO Dodges went out with mechanical
problems of any kind while a few 4Duhs and a least one Generic Motor
failed. Shoot, even Kyle was decent!
