I have also noticed this too. I attributed it to not letting the engine and tranny not being warmed up enough. After I make it to the first stop light on my way to work though, everything is fine.

I've noticed the same thing with my 2001 4.7, even after letting it warm
up for a few minutes...sluggish take off and the 4.7 really sounds like a
typical 'truck' engine...very load, deep sound, a lot of noise not
initially putting out any effort at forward movement.
