But, anyways... The powerdyne is a great blower for low boost, and should
not be used for high boost, due to its internal belt driven, and cannot take
the stress of gear drives... powerdyne sells only 6PSI kits for our trucks,
and I ran a 9# pulley for quite some time (~8months) then tryed Scott Q's
12# (2.4") pulley, and 1 month later, I had a broken internal belt...
replaced it, and again, started out with the 9#er, then went to 12# pulley a
few weeks later, and it broke again.... I replaced it, and ran it with the
stock 6# pulley for 100 miles, then sold it...
I would not recomend powerdyne if you want to go to high boost later on...
this is why I am now waiting on a T-Trim (capable of 26# of boost) and its
gear driven...
I've ordered the blower from Marty @ KRCPerformance and he tells me this is
the nastiest blower he has.... and should push 12-14PSI with a 3.125"
pulley, and maybe more...
Yes, the vortech kit is quite a bit more, but it allows for more boost...
the powerdyne kit, just bolting it up to a pretty stock motor with 6PSI and
3-4 days later going to the track, I droped 1 sec from my ET... then I
mod'd around the blower for more time... :-)
I predict that I will hit ~12.5@108ish with the vortech, ported heads,
custom cam, custom computer, ect... Stall converter prevented any good runs
with the powerdyne, due to the bogging issue... but with only 5PSI (after
2nd belt) it'd spin 1st and 2nd gear from a stand still....
Choose wisely, Powerdyne is great at lower boost, and Vortech is not for the
faint at heart! :-P
