Andy,
Thank you for asking, but unfortunately I'm still in RI. Our union is
waiting for the word before we go down. It is my understanding that FDNY and
their mutual aid are currently "handling" things.
In the meantime I am just quietly mourning not only the loss of over two
hundred of my brothers and sisters (last count I heard was 202 ... the same
number of firefighters as my whole department), but the loss of so very much
more.
If I may be so bold, I would like to include the following from
www.firehouse.com and the IAFF:
=====================================================
Firehouse.com, Firehouse Magazine and Firehouse Expos announced tonight a
partnership with the International Association of Firefighters in a major
fundraising effort to support the many children, spouses and family members
left behind by the firefighters and emergency medical personnel who perished
in the World Trade Center tragedy.
The formal announcement of the fund will come at a Noontime press conference
by the IAFF in New York on Thursday. The IAFF will adminster the fund
working with Locals 94 and 854 in New York.
Checks or money orders payable to the New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster
Relief Fund should be sent to:
