Justus,

I had a similar problem. I had a shop change the lubricant and the noise
started a while after that..
They ensured me that they put in the friction modifier but.
I heard grinding from the corners of the truck when turning, sounded like
the front wheel bearings were square, pulled and cleaned them but didn't
help, also had some serious wheel hop turning sharp corners
Sometimes the rear end would pop too.

I finally got some gear oil and two bottles of that smelly Mopar additive,
changed the lube and that fixed all of the problems.
I don't think I did much damage to the clutches but there was some 'stuff'
on the bottom of the differential housing that I cleaned out - probably
from the plates slipping ?

Might have been the brand they used, they use Kendall oils, I don't know.
Mopar and Quaker State additives seems to work. Quaker State says they
have lube that works without additive but I have not tried it.

I tow a lot and change it about every 30k miles.
