...still wiring....hot wire locations

Well, my 2 week adventure in setting up a 4 way fused neon circuit in my
truck is almost complete...thanks for all who sent tips regarding wiring.

I have my 4 leds mounted on the console (where the clip used to be) along
with an illuminated 'Main' power switch for the relay. All four circuits are
powered by this relay, and each circuit has its own on/off toggle switch
'hidden' in the garage door opener part of the console (this is also where
the 4 fuses for these circuits are). For someone who didn't originally know
his arse from his elbow abot electrical circuitry, this was quite an
experience...but I also learned a great deal.

Only thing I have left to do is "ground" my main switch and also provide it
with 'power' cause its illuminated.

First question: Is it safe to tap into 'any' black wire in the console area
for a ground? This would save me the hassle of running more wire some where
else.

Last question...2 parts:

(a): What are the advantages of using a power supply (to turn these
circuits on and off) which requires that the ignition be turned on. I have
noticed several remarks suggesting I do this as opposed to simply having the
ability to turn it on and off without the ignition in the on position.

(b): where is the closest 'hot' wire(ignition on or off depending on how
(a) was answered) I can use for my console mounted switch? Is anyone
familiar with the wires located within the console and will any of these
do?Again this switch is the one which activates the relay...which in turn
provides the power to all 4 circuits.

I can always run two more wires down to the fuse box area to locate a good
ground and to find a hot wire...but I wanted to avoid running any more wires
if possible.

Thanks again all

Nice thing is..although this initial setup was a pain. Whenever I add any
future neons (which is a must now) I can simply tap into any of 4 seperate
hot circuits which will have connecters located right in the fuse box area.

Note to Chuck: I plan on taking some pics before I put this all together.
Once the job is complete I should have an accurate list of supplies, wiring
diagrams etc. I didn't want to jump the gun until I knew for sure I had
everything hooked up perfect!
