Stainless exhaust

Well,
I had my custom exhaust done less than 1 year ago and the pipes are lookin
pretty bad. I was so concerned at the time about asthetics..I didn't check
to see the quality of the pipes themselves. I'm not complaining though, as
the job was done for only $180.
When I replace the pipes (catback), I'll have to get it done by a custom
shop...but I want a higher quality pipe (possibly tips too). What grade pipe
is the best without tearing a whole in the fabric of my monetary existance?
(I realize stainless comes in different grades..and not all are completely
rustproof). I'll probably replace the Hooker tips with stainless ones (same
shape...but the hooker's powder coating doesn;t seem to hold up very
well..so I might as well go with stainless).

TIA
