I have snoozed and been drivein around in the back of my Silver 89 2wd
(before I owned it) in the rain and never had problems. The trick is to
make sure you use sealing tape along the bed sides and the forward bed ledge
(by the window behind the cab). You can order it from JCWhitney.com. That
stuff should keep it waterproof. Generally - fiberglass bed caps are what I
would recommend. The one that is on my 2wd is 12 years old (was installed at
the time the truck was purchased) and its never had problems. However I did
have to remove the drivers side sliding window and reseal it with silicon.
Its as good as new now.
