The TPS does not affect the postion of the throttle blade. The only thing
that moderates how far the throttle blade is open is the throttle cable or
the cruise control cable. All the TPS does is measure how far the throttle
blade is open. The IAC(idle air control) motor is used to meter air through
a port in the throttle body for idle purposes. If you will look when you are
idling, the throttle plate is completely closed. The only air flowing
through the throttle body is through the IAC port. Now, the IAC motor and
port get carboned/gummed up pretty easily, so that may be affecting the idle
characteristics. All that said, this problem is widespread in the 4.7L
engines, as well as the older magnums. HTH,

Sounds like something going on with the TPS sensor switch, TPS= TROTTLE
POSITION SENSOR. this holds the throttle plate open so much which is
controlled by the PCM and the TPS talk to each other, OR the Throttle Body
needs to be cleaned...
