As I said...the t'stat is closed until the coolant in the engine reaches
the rated temp. Once the rated temp is reached, the t'stat opens and
lets the cooler water from the radiator circulate until the temp goes
below the rated temp...then the t'stat closed again.

Now, if the temp outside is really cold (yes...-30 does count as REALLY
cold), the water in the radiator will be much colder than normal and
will "Super cool" the engine. This gives the effect of the t'stat not
warming up the engine as much. This...again...is normal. The same
thing would happen with a 195.

As for the worries...no.
