Yea, I think you can fill the brake fluid, then open all the bleeder screws
and "gravity bleed" the system.

I did the exact same thing on my friend's 93 accord the other day
-new master cylinder and bleed teh entire system, and it doesn't do the same
symptoms that your truck did.

which are :
pedal sometimes holds, if oyu lightly press on the pedal, you can have it
fall flat to the floor.. but if you hit it quick enough, it'll be a firm
pedal.

We also checked the brake booster. Think procedure was to start the truck
with your foot on the brakes, and when the vehicle starts, the vacuum
booster will allow the pedal to drop a couple inches more and stay firm.
If that's the case, your booster if fine.

How old is the truck?

I'd bleed the system first, maybe even drain the brake fluid entirely &
replace with fresh. It may not be as terrible as it seems.
