I agree that Fel-Pro is one the best head gaskets out there. Lots of people
are
successfully running the 1008's but that is NOT the proper head gasket for
the
Magnum motors. According to Fel-Pro, the proper gasket for both the 5.2L
and
the 5.9L Magnum motors is 9898PT. The PT designation is a Perma-Torque
design
that does not require a re-torque after engine has been heated up and cooled
down. Furthermore, the 1008 is a LA motor gasket that just happens to work
w/the Magnums. The 1008 has been made for a long time. Probably even
before
the Magnum design came out. If you lay both of them on top of the head
surface
of the block, it is easy to see how different they are. The 1008's don't
line
up w/the holes properly, don't have the pushrod guides, and are much smaller
in
width. I guess that since they carry the "Perf" designation they seem to
get
the nod by most rebuilders. Some say that the 1008 is a much better gasket
because it costs over twice as much as the 9898PT's. Could that be due to
their
popularity?
