sorry to hear what happened, glad nobody was hurt. I hope your
little girl was not to shaken up along with you.
If the airbags did not deploy the damage to the dakota must not of
been to serious or extensive, the air- bag sensors on the genIII Dakota is
built into the upper
radiator core support, The only way to trigger the bag in a collission is
for the damage to also include the hood, grille,and core support.
A low front corner or front impact from the bumper
and lower will not trigger the bags.
