Normal.

Oil pressure "safety" range is 6-10psi - 80psi (idle to 3000rpm+)

When the oil is cold (or colder), it will show higher pressure than when
it's hot (long trips).

Subject: DML: oil pressure question

This may be a silly question.... this past weekend i made about a 2000
mile trip (Salt Lake , SF, SLO, LA, back to Salt Lake) and about halfway
through (around Monterey, CA) i noticed the oil pressure changing quite
a bit while i was driving. when stopped it would drop down to a little
less than the middle of that "safe" range and while driving along the
highway it would peg near top of the range. is this normal and
something that i just havent noticed before in the other 45,000 miles of
driving this truck? the truck had a full oil change before i left and
the level was never low throughout all the stops at gas stations along
the way. also the check engine light came on one night before we
stopped for the evening, but it was off when we started the next
morning.... any idea what would cause that.
