hi Gus thanks for the heads up but i already knew it was on. I'm using outlook 98 and as i explained to another list member a couple
weeks ago, there is no receipt request option anywhere. I've looked under each individual option there is to look at 10 times and
it's not there. very frustrating, only thing i can think of is error on install. only problem is i can't re-install as microsoft no
longer has up on support site only outlook 2000. the only way to turn it off is in the registry(i'm not going near that!) i'm all
ears if you have any thoughts i'm very frustrated with it

You have your email program set to request a read receipt. I did not know
if you knew that. Basically it means that when someone views a message from
you, outlook express will try to send you a message saying that your message
has been read. If you did not want this feature you could turn it off by
clicking the tools drop down menu then selecting options. When the options
window comes up you can click on the receipt tab and then uncheck the
request read receipt.
