That happened to me one time a few years ago. I was cruising the 240 loop
around Memphis at about 75-78mph and a red sports car came up on my rear
bumper. It was so close that the whole car disappeared at times from my
rearview mirror. I was following behind a white van that kept putting his
brakes on hard. After the second time the van did this, I looked in my rear
and side mirrors to check if it were clear and then put my blinker on to
change into the next lane to the right. When I did so, I felt a very slight
bump - much like when going over a very worn down speed bump at speed. I
looked in my rearview mirror and to my surprise, saw the red sports car
directly behind me skidding on the pavement on his front bumper. I mean
this car was completely vertical with the front bumper touching the
pavement, the rear of the car facing the sky and the drivers eyes were as
big as grapefruits. All this at at least 75mph. I pulled over to see if I
were involved or if I could help the guy. He stayed in his car for a few
minutes and was white as a ghost. When he finally emerged, he was saying
"You ran over me". I was like "What are you talking about - you were
tailgating too close, disappeared, I signalled and made a lane change - How
did that affect you?". Then to my surprise, he showed me a 12in fresh tire
mark coming up his fender and across his hood that matched my tire exactly.
He then filled in the details. Apparently he had tried the lane change just
prior to my changing lanes. He said that when I came over, the front of my
rear right tire caught the rear of his left front tire causing it to jump up
the fender, across the hood and down the center of his hood. He was on the
brakes hard which left his front end close to the ground. When my trucks
tire got thru raping his ride, it pinched his bumper to the pavement causing
the rear of the car to go airborne. Crazyiest thing I've ever seen - if it
weren't for the tire marks, I wouldn't have believed it.

Wish I had pictures of his car as most people still don't believe that I've
actually drove over a car at 75mph without hardly noticing it. BTW, this
was in my full-size IndyRam hereby known as the car crusher 8).

Latr,

Shane
