How many of you Mopar fans knew that the Powerflite transmission (the
predecessor to Torqueflight) used motor oil insted of transmission fuid and
shared it with the engine. Because of that engine oil changes required 11
quarts! Aparently these transmissions lasted well because police agencies
used to put this in their bid specs and Ferd and Chevy could not meet these
specs so they tried to put motor oil in their trannies and they all burned
up quickly. What does this say for Chrysler engineering?
