The only pocket rocket that is really worth the money in weight versus HP
ratio is the Swift GTs. You can take a 1500.00 car and beat up on a wide
variety of 20K car/truck and under.
However, I am always dogging the Nissan products, not to forget the
Toys(ota). There is nothing in that field that does a sub-14 without the
need of a turbo or serious mods.
With truck comparo, starting this year, 2003, it will be a class-by-class
building and releasing cars over the next couple of years, as the best and
fastest performing vehicle. I have to admit; even the heavier RAM SRT will
outrun all the Nissan products including the 350Z.
Now that is scary....
But, your remark is only short lived with the Dakota being outgunned.
Remember, the next PVO project is the SRT-8 (A.K.A. Dakota). I think even
the Sentra will find it hard not only off the line but in the mile chase.
If it were a choice of compacts (not sub-compact), I would opt for a 2003
Neon SRT vice a Sentra R. The engine is very mild (6 PSI) and could easily
be boosted in the stratosphere for optimal street fun. In the Nissan
product, you will not find this.

By the way, to all of ya'll dogging these pocket rocket SE-Rs. Take in to
consideration that they save way more gas than our trucks, most of them are
cheaper in insurance, and they are way faster than our trucks are on top
end. Sure we can line up with them light to light but from a rolling start
at around 70-80, those cars are just getting started where as our trucks are
beginning to give out. So give the cars some credit. Nissan's Altima,
Maxima, and Sentra SE-R will hand any of our slightly modified Dakotas there
tail if we try to jump them on the freeway. Keep that in mind while you're
wondering while people are buying these pocket rockets. Remember, these
cars aren't wearing the governors that our trucks are. Also, with a little
change, you can make any Japanese engineered car about as fast as you want
to go. The same can't be said about our trucks (in road form). Think about
it guys, around here there are daily driver civics whooping on stock C5s.
Take caution before you assume an easy win.
Robert.
P.S. By the way, I love domestic cars and I'd never buy a Japanese designed
truck (maybe later), but I must give credit where it's due.
