Kammer sent me a new rocker and pushrod. I'd never adjusted hydralics
before but even I knew they weren't all supposed to sound like loose solid
lifters. He said they had set them at zero lash and that was supposed to a
good thing. Well it certainly had no power on the drive home, even before
the pushrod fell out. After replacing the rocker I did my own adjustment,
zero lash plus just enough to stop the clicking, and it ran great after
that.

I agree completely, Rich. Considering there was a long workbench beside my
truck it has to be just carelessness to not retain all the fasteners you
remove. I never lose any when I do my own work. I had also asked him to
deepen my oil pan and expected him to degree the cam. Neither of these
happened. He said he didn't have time for the pan and their degree wheel
was too large for the engine bay. (they had the truck for over a week,
scheduled a month in advance, and, gee, wouldn't you have the proper tools
if cam installations were a common task for your business??)

A side note on the Comp Cams rockers. He recommended them over Cranes cause
"they had good results with them in the Stock Eliminator trucks". Well, a
year later the corner of a guide plate broke, causing another pushrod to
fall out of the rocker. When I told him about it, guess what........he said
that happens a couple times a year to their race trucks!! I immediately
switched to Crane rockers and have never had to touch them since (3 years
and counting).
Aren't you sorry you got me started? :-)
