AWD has very interesting performance characteristics in a pickup. It partly
compensates for the poor weight distribution. Those that think such a system
is only a Yuppie feature has likely not had the opportunity to use it. By
the way, the system used on the Dak can be locked just like the "true 4wd."
On wet roads with occasional large puddles it tracks straight through them.
WOT launches on dry pavement result in no lost energy of squealing tires. If
you have the part time system you are turning all the same parts anyway so
there is not a savings there. With more than 30 years experience with a
variety of 4 WD systems this has been the best in a pickup so far.
