I was just building a Dakota Quad Cab on Dodge's Website, and no matter
what options, were chosen with the 4.7l engine, the site says it gets
the 8.25 rearend.
How do you tell which rearend you have?

The actual engineering break down for the 8 1/4 vs 9 1/4 is a dark
secret
held by Dodge City and CTC. It's safe to say that the heavier the
truck
is combined with engine choice, transmission choice and optional
packages
such as heavy duty suspension, trailer towing, etc. indicates what axle
the truck will get.
In your case, you have a QuadCab (Largest Dakota) with a V8 and Manual
Transmission. This indicates a 9 1/4 Axle.
