I have been reading all of the latest posts about
AZ and I imagine all of you have been also, so I won't
include any snippets. I managed in central Ohio for 6
years and gladly left in '98. I completely agree with
the gentleman that blamed "Corporate Policy". They are
killing themselves and will eventually go the way of
Nationwise and Autoworks. BUT, in their defense, none
of you can truly say you haven't gotten the same bad
service elsewhere! I know I have, including and
especially NAPA. You pay a lot more for the parts,
which are 'sometimes' better quality, still don't
always get the right part, and then have to fight
about a warranty issue. At least AZ and Advance
usually honor their warranties pretty well, maybe
because of the quality of the parts? All I am saying
is if you know what you are doing give the guy or gal
back there a break. I don't shop AZ anymore unless I
have too, because of personal feelings, but it isn't
always the person behind the counters fault or even
the MGR's[man, could I tell you stories!!!] Then again
sometimes it is, so just don't go to that store
anymore, they will eventually get the hint. Training
is a big issue, but unless the Mgr wants to live there
he can't begin to get everything they want done and
train, and , and ,etc. Believe me they don't make
enough for the 60 to 90 hours they spend there
now.(supposed to be 50)It is the new corporate world,
pay millions to some analyzer to tell you what to do,
get the most you can out of your people with as little
money as you can, and reap the profits and retire on
some tropical island!! AZ was great before the mid-90s
when they went public. Their #1 concern was the
employee and the customer, because if you took care of
the employee they automatically took care of the
customer. After they went public they said it was the
same, but it wasn't, the main concern became the
"Bottomline" and the stockholder. Because they had to
answer to someone else now. If you could go back in
time to see the way the stores were then you could see
what I am talking about. They used to be clean and had
auto parts, now they are pretty dirty and look more
like a convenience store. Oh well, sorry about my
rambling, just my opinion, cause I've been there!!!jkp
