I reinstalled my old muffler yesterday and it runs
like it did before. I did not install the muffler
backwards. The side stamped INPUT is facing in the
direction of the cat, so I believe that I installed it
in the right direction. I called Flowmaster and they
suggest that I return it for another muffler and try
that (wow, wish I thought of that). New muffler will
arrive tomorrow afternoon and the speed shop I deal
with claims that after the many years of selling
Flowmaster, this is the first defective muffler.
We will see what happens this weekend......
