Hi all,
My new heavy-duty auto tranny is almost in the 92 Dak! Well, it was in and
then I started to torque the bolts to spec and BOOM--stripped...then a bunch
of cussing followed by a lot of crying. I was torquing the flex plate to
the torque converter following my 1992 FSM. It states to torque the bolts
(10.0 inch, 4-lug converter) to 74 N.m or 55 ft. lbs. That's way too much!
The guy who remanufactured the tranny said not over 20 ft. lbs. So--now I'm
turning to the people who know the REAL answer. I'm very skeptical about
all the other torque specs and would greatly appreciate it if you could
double check me on the below specs.
-10.0 inch, 4-lug converter = 74 N.m (55 ft. lbs) --not over 20 ft. lbs. for
real?
-Transfer case to back of transmission = 47 N.m (35 ft. lbs.)?
-Damper on back of transfer case = 54 N.m (40 ft. lbs.)?
-Both propeller shafts = 19 N.m (170 inch lbs.)?
Thanks in advance for your guidance! I hope to have my Dak back up and
burning rubber by this weekend!
