I run without a cat on my '96. JBA headers, 2.5" Y pipe, 3" all the
way back to a 3" Gibson cat-back. It will definitely turn heads - it
sounds pretty darn good, IMHO. Its loud, but not too loud for me. I
guess its a personal thing though - ask three guys their opinion on
a muffler and it'll probably be too loud for one, too quiet for another,
and just right for the third. :-)

Unfortunately I don't have any sound clips or anything, but there
are a few people on the list who have heard it in person who might
be able to comment. Its loud, but its a good loud. :-) Sounds
pretty nice in a tunnel. ;-) Its set off car alarms once or twice,
but they may have just been really sensitive. I don't find it
obnoxious or droning on the highway. I don't think I would want
it any quieter, but there we go with the whole individual
personal tastes again...
